Keeping your plant portfolio

Many people, who just start growing some of their first plants in the garden, don’t think well about the details. They often hurry up, in order to plant the seeds and get the first harvest as soon as possible. However, there are some small details, which should be thought well about. One of them is a plant portfolio. In this article we’d like to describe it more.

What’s this?

First of all, a plant portfolio can be a cheap photoalbum with information about your plants inside. When you plant the seeds, you should draw the plan of your yard and set the actual sorts of the plants and the places, where you planted them. It’s needed for tracking the information about its growth.

The details

Except of the simple information about the location of plants, you should also add some details. They include such points, as the shop, where your plants were bought, the manufacturer, the time you planted them and the temperature. This data can seem ridiculous for the first time, but keeping such a portfolio (or, actually, a kind of diary for your plants), you can get some precious facts very soon.

For example, when the time for gathering the harvest comes, you’ll see the quality of the seeds, you purchased; the best temperature for planting; the time of the year you planted your previous harvest and so on. This portfolio will definitely help you each of the next years you’ll do gardening.

Make your pots lighter

We used to think, that the flower pots, as a rule, are pretty heavy. Their weight is rather big, because of the soil and the stones in the pot. And if you can’t get rid of the soil, you can leighten the pot, replacing the stones on its bottom. In this article we’d like to tell more about this procedure and its main aim.

So, let’s start from the very beginning – why do we need stones on the bottom of the pot? The answer is simple – it’s a drainage. It is used to remove the wastes of water after the plant was watered. The odd liquid will be seen around the pot.

Instead of using the heavy stones for the drainage, we’d like to offer you some much lighter alternative – the foam peanuts. They can be met in any package you open, for example, when you order something on the web. These foam peanuts allow the water to go through, – a perfect solution for the drainage. Besides, it can be found free in any of your next package.

Reducing the weight of the plant pot can also be achieved in the other way. Some of the gardeners prefer a special gardening mix instead of the classical soil. It consists of the vermiculite and peat moss, so that the pot will become lighter. However, you shouldn’t worry about the plants themselves – they will continue their growing even in such modern pots with no problems.

How to transport your pots?

If you have to transport your pots to your garden, you can face one simple, but annoying problem – your pots will be unstable, when your transport turns. For example, you can put your pots into a car, but when the trip finishes, you’ll notice, that the ground will be everywhere inside your vehicle. Of course, it’s not a good experience, so in this article we’d like to give you some simple advises on how to transport your pots smart.

First of all, you can use a ready solution – some special boxes, which are being sold in the market. But they will either take some more place in your garden or room; or they will result in some additional costs. So, we’d like to tell you more about our special tool, which will help you to transport your pots.

It’s a stepladder! It can be transported to your garden as well, but you don’t need to buy anything! Just paste the pots inside the spaces between the steps and be sure – your pots won’t even move, when your car drives!

This idea is universal, so that you can apply the same principle for many other objects to transport. For example, you can use it for moving some glass jars, if you don’t want them to get broken. However, you should cover them with some paper or rag, in order to protect it.

Another issue is the capacity of your car and the lengths of the ladder. If it’s too long – you can borrow some shorter one and repeat the process. And have a nice ride!

Actually, wood is considered to be the most ‘natural’ material, used in gardening. In the past centuries all of the tools, used for gardening and planting were made of wood. It was affordable and cheap material, much more popular than any other.
